Carl Jose Sami Attieh

The international practice of Attieh & Chebli is led from Houston by Carl Jose Sami Attieh, admitted to the New York Bar. As Of Counsel to the firm since April 2022, he has advised on cross-border agreements for clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia, working across corporate, contractual, intellectual-property, and real-property matters.

Carl is also Of Counsel to a New York firm, where his work since October 2025 has addressed corporate and contractual matters, U.S. tax-efficient structuring, and private-equity and hedge-fund frameworks.

His experience extends beyond private practice. He worked as in-house general legal counsel to a software venture in Beirut, directing intellectual-property strategy, licensing, and compliance through its go-to-market phase. Earlier, he worked as a Fellow Legal Researcher with an institution in Washington, D.C., researching the arbitrability of particular disputes across Arab countries.

Carl is a PhD candidate at the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne), supervised by Professor Rémy Libchaber, where his research compares the interpretation of contractual clauses in investment arbitration across French, Lebanese, English, and Emirati law.
